1. One scene that stuck in my mind was the chicks in the factories.
2. One thing that I was familiar with was the japanese hotel with the different compartments with the people sleeping in them.
3. The people doing the chanting and dance on the ground is an example of the people living in harmony with the environment and in tokyo all of the people were driving and there were no trees or anyhting. This stuck in my head because it was an interesting chant, and the driving and everything in tokyo had a lot of fumes from pollution in it.

2. When they showed grand central station, I recognized it. I had seen it before in a video.
3. One scene that I think showed humans living in harmony with the earth was when the people where bathing in the river instead of using showers and baths. One scene that I think showed people exploiting the earth was when they showed people working in sweat shops.

1. In the second movie, they were burning the baby birds beak. It’s hurtful.

3. The first film we watched is about culture, and their behavior. The second film is about “What’s going on around the world.”

1. The scene that was stuck in my mind was the chicks on the conveyor belt. The woman was just flinging them into the boxes, like they weren’t actually animals that could feel pain.
2. One scene I was familiar with, was Grand Central Station. Once I saw the clock, I knew excatly what it was because I had been there before.
3. The scene with the women washing their hair in the water. They are using natural resources to clean themselves. The scene exploiting the earth was the scene with all of the cars and taxis. The reason this is exploiting the earth is that the cars are all creating a lot of pollution.

Madeleine W. // March 17, 2008 at 5:32 pm
1. One scene that I thought was kind of cool was when there was a train or buses (I’m not sure which) going past a marketplace and you could only see segments of what the people were doing in between cars or buses (again I’m not sure which).
2. One of the scenes actually was similiar to the setting of a dream I’ve had. It was one of the ones with a Mongolian? village with the mud huts.
3. The tribesmen were sitting in front of a statue moving in harmony and making sounds, chanting that sounded kind of like something you would hear in a jungle. When they’re doing that they are kind of in tune with the Earth figurtively speaking.
Jacob B // March 17, 2008 at 5:32 pm
The scene that got stuck in my mind was when the little chicken were being pre pared to be locked up in cages and then eaten. That got stuck because I felt bad for the little chickens and there beaks being burned.
I have seen the scene where the people were bowing and chanting at the wall. I saw it on another documentary.
One scene where the humans and earth were living in harmony is when the people were climbing the mountain to what i think was filling a volcano with dirt. The scene when they blew up the earth was exploiting the earth.
Hudson Jacobson // March 17, 2008 at 5:33 pm
1. A scene that stuck in my head were the chickens. That stuck in my head because when ever I see anything that has to do with animals being hurt I start to tear up and sometimes I cry. When the scene first started I though “aww look at the cute chicks!” and then I relized that they were being droped into a shoot and then I just felt horribal.
2. I wasn’t framiliar with a lot of the scenes but I recognized some of the citys like Hong Kong and Tokyo.
3.A scene with people living in harmony with the earth would be the people farming the weat and a scene with people exloiting the earth would be when the people were choping down the tree.
Grania P. // March 17, 2008 at 5:33 pm
1. The scene with all of the chicks being handled and having their beaks burned stuck with me because it was so inhumane, and I was shocked that people could treat animals so badly.
2. I had seen the scene with all the sped up traffic before, in a youtube video that was made to show how many cars there are on the road, contributing to global warming.
3. The scene that showed all of the people walking through the city showed the Earth being exploited. The scene that showed the people pulling clams out of the mud on the beach showed them living in harmony with the Earth because they were living off of it without hurting it.

1. A scene that was stuck in my mind was the one that showed all of the people moving on the crosswalk. What captured me was that there were so many people and that that place was highly populated. It was pretty neat how they all moved at one time.
2. I was familiar with the monks praying at the temple in Tibet. I have seen it in a movie Mr. Charnley showed in 7th grade.
3. There were people working with technology and there were people chanting. The people working with technology were very busy and they were in a factory. I would imagine that the environment wasn’t very healthy. The people who were chanting were very relaxed and they were outside in the wilderness not harming it.

1. The image that stuck in my head was the part where they were throwing the chicks down the tubes and fileing their beaks off. It is so horrible that they treat them like that. They were throwing them around like they weren’t even alive.
2. I hadn’t acually seen any of the parts of the movie before, but I have seen things where they have the clouds moving across the sky really fast. I think it was really cool how it looked like the clouds were water.
3. There were lots of scenes where the people were bathing in streams or lakes instead of using showers and baths. There were also scenes where there were people at the dump. It showed how much waste humans produce.
Marcus Griffin // March 17, 2008 at 5:36 pm
1. The chicks beaks being burned. It captured me because I thought it was horrible.
2. Grand Central Station was familiar because I have scene it before in movies.
3. The scene with the people processing chickens were exploiting the earth and the scene when the people were carrying the dirt up the mountain was being in harmony with the Earth.
Connor J. // March 17, 2008 at 5:36 pm
The scene that is stuck in my mind is the scene where the chickens are sorted, have their feathers cut off, and their beak burned shut. This scene captured me because it involved a small animal being somewhat abused.
A scene that I was familliar with was the wailing wall scene. I had seen this before on a video, and on television.
When the people were processing chickens it was exploiting the earth because it was not using naturally created things; so when they took mud to the top of the mountain mud was natural, and it was being re-introduced to the natural environment.

1.The one scene that stuck in my mind was when the guy wearing the two-faced mask was dancing around with a wine bottle. The face captured my eyes, as I wondered why the mask had two faces.
2. I actually read a book friday that had a church with a face on it. This church was in this movie today.
3. One scene had 2 men meditating together in harmony. An explointing scene was when tons of people were taking mud out of the earth, and putting it min bags.

1. One scene that stuck in my mind is when the chickens beaks were being heated. They wnet through a maze of holes until they came to a old man who heated their beaks until smoke occured.
2. One movie that I am familiar with is when the fisherman used a gigantic net to capture the fish.
3. The scene where the old man was heating the chickens was not cooperating with the Earth. The poeple who were climbing up the mountain were painting their faces. The used Earth to help make their paint.
Isaac J. // March 17, 2008 at 5:37 pm
1. One scene that stuck with me was the scene in which a large group of people were sitting on the ground and chanting. They were synchronized in their movements and that is what made it stick in my mind.

3. One scene showd a large expanse of land which had been shaped into different levels like stairs. They were using it to farm. That was working with the land. There was another scene where there were explosions going off. That scene was of people exploiting the earth.

The chickens definately stuck in my mind the most. But a lot of other stuff stuck in my mind too, like the skulls, the fire and smoke, all the children, the cool clothing, the water scenes, all the fast forwarded people/cars, and much more. I was familiar with some of the water scenes. But not really anything else. Oh yah I have seen pictures of people at the western wall. And I think I have seen some pictures of some of the African dancers…maybe. I have also seen many baby chicks. One scene showed a man sitting on a rock and it was beautiful. Another scene showed people hurting baby chicks which was really sad.

1. The scene that is stuck in my mind is the scene at the end, where the man/lady? is doing SOMETHING? I really didn’t know what it was, but I think it was really random. It made me start asking questions.
2. The scene I’m probably familiar with is the people in the city, with the buses and cars and more people. I have seen this a lot in many cities like London, or even Boston or New york.
3. The scene where those men were all chanting and dancing. They were all living in harmony. The other scene exploiting the Earth was when the were sorting the chicks in the factory, and burning the beaks……that was REALLY horrible….

2. One scene that I had seen before was when they showed the Grand Canyon, I saw that when I went to the Grand Canyon.
3. The scene where they were putting the chickens on the conveyer belt and burning they’re beaks was very different from when the people were harvesting the wheat and the crops. The scene with the chick’s was exploiting the earth because they were treating them very badly, and when they were harvesting the wheat they were using the earth kindly to get what they needed.

And the japaneses subway was exploting the earth because it was poluting the earth and not leaving the earth in its natural way

One scene that stuck in my mind is of the chicks having their beaks burned and being thrown around. It was from Baraka. It captured me because I have seen that kind of thing before. There is a movie on the internet about how KFC treats their chickens. The workers did horrible things to them. The movie was called “Kentucky Fried Cruelty”. A scene that showed people living in harmony with the earth was when the people were bathing in the water and their houses were in the water on the shore. A scene that showed people exploiting the earth was when it showed someone cutting down a tree.

One image that stuck in my head was the monkey chant, it stuck in my head becasue of the way they were singing. I saw a giant clock and it looked like Big Ben and I have been to london. One of the scenes shows a guy with fire and sitting on a rug and swinging a lamp this shows a man with nature, and another scene shows a bunch of people chanting together worshiping a monkey, this shows harmony.

An image that stuck in my mind is the one in Baraka with the man sitting next to all of the lit candles. This scenestuck in my mind because the flames lined up in a sort of grid and it looked really artfull (in my mind at least).
A scene that I was farmilliar with was the one with the baby chickens being thrown against all sorts of meatle things because I watched an episode of dirty jobs and Mike Rowe had to take part in that process.
a scene that showes humans living in harmoney with the earth is the one with that person walking up a path that flowed with the moutain instead of just cutting threw it. A scene that shows people exploiting the earth was the one that showed a moutains face and then a man’s face and then the moutain again and then it blew up.
